Athens Academy Introduces SafeStudents Online Program for Parents

SafeStudents Online is excited to announce that Athens Academy, an independent K-12 school located in Athens, Georgia, has selected SafeStudents Online to help its parents keep their children safe from some of the threats commonly found on social media.

Starting in spring semester 2018, Athens Academy will provide the SafeStudents Online program for all parents of middle school students. Parents will be able to monitor their children’s social media activity for inappropriate or potentially dangerous posts and will receive alerts to help them take action when necessary.

SafeStudents Online balances protection with privacy to encourage collaboration and communication between parents and children. The advanced technology helps parents keep their children safe from online threats such as cyberbullying, online predators, and damaged reputations. Parents never need to ask for their children’s passwords, and the online activity is monitored privately by parents, with the school having no access to the content.

“I remember when the first Athens Academy student showed me her account on “The Facebook” and find it somewhat hard to believe how social media has grown in the past fifteen years to become one of the most significant influences on our children today.

Our students need support in safely using this powerful and developing new force in our world. SafeStudents Online provides parents with tools to proactively respond to issues and to work with their children to best understand how to safely use and understand the power of social media. Working together and with SSO, I’m hopeful we can teach our children how to best use and live happily in a world that has changed a great deal in the past fifteen years and will change even more in the next fifteen.”

    – Mr. Jeff Stachura, Middle School Director
